Some people throw unwanted household chemicals in a trash bag and take them to a landfill, without checking disposal instructions. Improper disposal of hazardous household chemicals can contaminate our water supplies. If hazardous household chemicals are burned, they may pollute the atmosphere. Chemicals must be stored and discarded carefully. But where do we do dispose of them? The answer is the hazardous household waste program. This is a program is run by Gaston County, which now has a permanent site for disposal of hazardous household products. This site is open on the second Saturday of each month.
