4-H is for boys and girls ages 5-19. It is a great place for families to get closer, meet new friends, and learn new, fun things. We encourage family involvement in 4-H. It's not just a youth organization, it's a family organization. That's one of the reasons we are one of the largest national youth organizations in the country.
What is 4-H:
4-H provides children and their parents with more than 200 projects and activities that are designed to help you learn and grow together. Imagine the fun in developing interests and hobbies as a family! You can be in 4-H through four different ways: clubs, Super Summer/day camps, Camp Millstone, and school programs.
4-H Clubs:
4-H clubs are young people having fun with friends and learning new skills. The club is guided by adult helpers and meets at least once a month.
Club members go on tours, attend special programs and parties, conduct community service projects, make things, share what they've learned, plus lots more! Through continued club membership, youths gain skills in decision-making, cooperation, and communication.
Joining 4-H is Simple!
Call (704) 922-2126 to locate the club nearest you. Or help start a club in your community by:
- getting other parents and youths interested in 4-H
- helping with a 4-H "Find Out More" meeting
- identifying parents and other people to be club helpers
- locating a place to meet
- attending orientation training
4-H has lots of fun and exciting camps and trips that happen during the summer and school breaks. You can look forward to seeing a list and dates of camps in April each year so stay tuned!

Classes are age specific for 5-8 year olds or 9-12 year olds, and usually last at least 6 hours. Fees are charged for classes plus a one-time registration fee.
This is a week-long summer overnight camping experience for boys and girls ages 8-12. The cost of camp covers meals, lodging, insurance, supplies, spending money and transportation to and from camp. Call 704-922-2126 for more information.
4-H is in the schools. Your teacher can participate in the 4-H Quail Embryology program for 2nd graders held in the fall. You get a hands-on approach to science. Be responsible for turning the quail eggs, keeping the temperature accurate, and making sure the canals are full of water! Plus learn about the different parts of birds and how to care for live quail.
