Cooperative Extension
Responsibilities
Research (50%) and Extension (50%): Pest management
of arthropod pests of fruits and vegetables. Major
research and
extension programs include:
- Development and implementation of IPM programs
for apples
and and staked tomatoes.
- Integration of mating disruption, biopesticides
and biological
control programs for tortricid and mite pests of
apples into
IPM programs.
- Effects of sustainable agricultural practices
(i.e., tillage
practices, cover and inter-crops, rotations and
pest
management practices) on pest and beneficial arthropods
in
vegetable crops.
- Population dynamics of thrips and epidemiology
of tomato
spotted wilt virus.
- Evaluation of pesticides against pest and
beneficial
arthropods on apples and vegetables.
