- To reinforce the benefits of breastfeeding for prenatal women or teens

Objective

- The pregnant woman or teen will be able to: Talk comfortably about
breastfeeding; describe at least two reasons someone might choose to
breastfeed; and indicate where she could get more information about
breastfeeding.

Materials Needed
|
- Handouts: "Breastfeeding, A Special Relationship" and 12
and 13 in English and Spanish from the Teaching Materials Manual
- "Show and Tell" items

Preparation
|
- Gather items needed.
- Review and handouts and lesson.
- Make copies of handouts for participants.
|
|
Activity
|
- Greet the participants.
- Display the collection of show and tell items on a table or counter.
- Tell the participants that women who breastfeed their babies often
talk about the advantages of this method. Ask if they can figure out
what advantages these props represent.
- Take time to listen to participants' concerns, answer questions and
share your experience related to the lesson.
- Distribute the handout.
- Summarize the lesson information.
- Make arrangements for future contacts if needed.
