Preface

The theme for the fourth technical meeting of the Metropolitan Tree Improvement Alliance (METRIA) was "New Trees for Metropolitan Landscapes: The METRIA Species Trials Project". Members of the Program Committee were Henry D. Gerhold (Chairman), Richard J. Henkel, Clyde M. Hunt, David F. Karnosky, Ted R. Myers, (Species Trials Project Leader), Robert L. Tate, and Alden M. Townsend. David F. Karnosky coordinated local arrangements with the International Symposium on Urban Horticulture, "Improving the Quality of Urban Life with Plants".

Acknowledgements
