Welcome to the information site designed with agriculture teachers and students in mind. We are committed to providing the tools to assist you in achieving significant advances in your educational pursuits. We hope that the information provided on this site will help. MISSION STATEMENTThe NC State Department of Agriculture and Extension Education (AEE) offers both formal and informal educational opportunities to teachers, extension agents and community college professionals in Western North Carolina. These include graduate courses in both the Masters and Doctoral programs, as well as teacher certification. Additionally, this office provides and/or coordinates inservice training, curriculum development, program visitation/consultation, and many FFA activities in North Carolina's schools. Educational methodology includes on-site classes, teleconferencing, web based instruction, independent studies, and internships. The AEE Department has placed three Regional Coordinators across the state. Housed at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Mills River (just outside of Asheville), the Western Region Coordinator provides leadership to 151 agriculture teachers in 107 high schools and middle schools with Agricultural Education programs in 38 counties of the western third of the state. |
