MISSION STATEMENT

The NCSU Agriculture and Extension Education Department offers both formal and informal educational opportunities to teachers, extension agents and community college professionals in Western North Carolina. These include graduate courses in both the Masters and Doctoral programs, as well as teacher certification. Additionally, this office provides and/or coordinates inservice training, curriculum development, program visitation/consultation, and many FFA activities for over 70 high schools and middle schools with Ag Education programs in our area. Educational methodology includes on-site classes, teleconferencing, web based instruction, independent studies, and internships.

The AEE Department has placed three Regional Coordinators across the state. Housed at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Fletcher (just outside of Asheville), the Western Region Coordinator provides leadership to agriculture teachers in the 33 counties of the western third of the state.
