Events

Annual departmental seminars will be presented highlighting the project status and progress. These seminars will be held in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources for all interested students and faculty.

The first seminar was presented On March 13, 2006 by Dr. Lee Allen, one of the project leaders. Dr. Allen’s seminar, entitled “Overview of the Forest Nutrition Cooperative's intensive silviculture research and our partners in South America - opportunities for research and graduate and undergraduate study”, highlighted the research he co-directs in Chile, and the possibilities for student involvement in these projects.

As the project progresses there will be additional events for outside audiences allowing us to share lessons learned and insights gained through the project.

In the final year of the project (2009), a workshop focused on the water and natural resource sectors of Chile is planned. This workshop will feature research findings, discussion of competition and opportunities for the US private sector in Chile, and technology transfer of information gleaned through the faculty and student exchange, research and study. The audience for this workshop will be professional foresters, land managers and natural resource managers, as well as Extension agents, policy makers and University students and faculty.

Upcoming Conference:
