Where: Swain County Cooperative Extension, 60 Almond School Road, Bryson City

"In 4-H Map & Apps, youth will explore the technology of GIS/GPS mapping which has applications in numerous fields, including agriculture, healthcare, national defense, environmental defense, aeronautics and city planning."

On October 9, 2013, Swain County youth are invited to join millions of young people across the nation to become scientists for the day during the sixth annual 4-H National Youth Science Day.

For ages: 9 - 18
Light refreshments will be provided

The 2013, National Science Experiment will be – 4-H Maps & Apps! Designed by Colorado State University Extension, includes activities that will turn young people into geospatial thinkers as they design and map their ideal park, use GIS mapping to solve community problems and contribute data about their community to the United States Geological Survey.

This event, seeks to spark an early youth interest and leadership in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in an effort keep America competitive in those fields.
