Free Weight Loss Program

Where: Thomasville YMCA

This is a 6-week long chronic disease prevention and management program that
provides strategies to help adults manage their health. These strategies are consistent with the 2010 Dietary Guideline recommendations to prevent chronic disease.
Lesson topics include moving more, controlling sodium intake, controlling fat
intake, reducing sugar intake, and increasing dairy intake. Each session includes
in-depth information about why the behavior is important for managing chronic
disease, strategies for adopting the behavior, and guided discussion of the a "strategy for the week". Each participant will receive Eat Smart Move More Take Control handouts, a weekly Action Plan, and other materials.

Classes will run for 6-weeks and will include 30 minutes of education combined with 30 minutes of physical activity. To register, call Jen Hames at the health department at 242-2354 or Marie Bruff at Cooperative Extension at 242-2080.
