Is your family going through a divorce or separation? It can be a tough time on everyone included the children. To help ease the transition NC Cooperative Extension and the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) have established a statewide minimal cost co-parenting education program entitled Families and Children in Transition (FACT). The FACT program will educate and sensitize never married, separated, or divorcing couples with children about the needs of their children, during and after the separation and divorce process. Participating in parent education prior to mediation can make mediation and further litigation move more smoothly. NC Cooperative Extension is offering the four-hour course at the Currituck Cooperative Extension Center. Classes will be offered on Oct. 10th from 9am to 1pm. The class is open to adults who are parties to a contested custody or visitation action, other adult caregivers, and other interested individuals from the community at a reduced cost of $7 per individual. Pre-registration is required with cash or a check made payable to Currituck County and mailed to 120 Community Way Barco, NC 27917.
