The Durham County Cooperative Extension Service is seeking members to serve on an advisory board to the Family & Consumer Science agent. The mission of Extension Family & Consumer Science is to improve the well-being of Durham County families through programs that educate, inform, and help families put research-based knowledge to work in their lives.  Areas that are addressed by Family & Consumer Science programs include personal financial literacy and money management strategies, issues pertaining to aging, and housing matters involving indoor air quality, home maintenance, and energy efficiency.  Board members will be asked to meet once a quarter for a term of two years with the Family & Consumer Science Extension Agent and help advise a plan of work for the agent to carry out that will most effectively benefit Durham citizens and residents.  I am looking for board members from a variety of backgrounds and interests, who can bring diverse perspectives to help guide me in my service to our county.  If you are interested in serving on the Family & Consumer Science board for the Durham county Cooperative Extension Service, please call Deborah McGiffin at 560-0521.  Your assistance and commitment to Family & Consumer Science issues will surly be appreciated by our citizens and families who deserve the best information available for improving the quality of life for us all.
