Your report is important to us. Confirmed reports of new and existing soybean rust outbreaks will become a part of the forecast system. Please review these instructions and the sample narrative; then, proceed directly to the reporting form.

Are you sure you actually have soybean rust? In North Carolina, the disease must be confirmed by your County Agricultural Extension Office or State Soybean Rust Coordinator. In other states and countries, contact your local Agricultural Extension Office or see the list of State Soybean Rust Coordinators.

Fill out the REPORT FORM as completely as possible by typing the appropriate information in the blanks provided. Then, click on the SUBMIT button.

If you report is transmitted successfully, you will receive a return E-mail message from the North American Soybean Rust Forecast Center in Raleigh, NC.

Most of the report information is confidential. The reporter's name, address, farm or business will not appear in any forecast. Only the source location and strength will be indicated.

The "Narrative Account of the Source" is an additional feature of the report for your use. HOWEVER, this account should not be a substitute for the details requested in the report. The text portion of the Narrative Account provides the reporter with a place to give details and a general account of the situation as it exists and develops over time. This feature, and this feature only, will be shared each day with the State Soybean Rust Coordinators via the Forecast homepage. Please, be concise and informative. No editing will be done - the account will appear EXACTLY as written. Below is an example of how a narrative account might be written:
Narrative Account of Soybean Rust Situation - EXAMPLE
Soybean Rust was found on May - and confirmed on May --, 2005 in Wake County near Knightdale, NC. Fresh, active lesions were found in 10 fields in Wake County and in 5 fields in adjacent Johnston, Co. Two generations of lesions (fresh and 10-14 days old) were found in several fields where protective spraying had ceased. The plants have been destroyed. The disease appears to have been present for 1-2 weeks. Weather conditions have been favorable for soybean rust since April --. Good control (no lesions) has been practiced by most growers. Growers should follow the Control Strategy provided by NC State University during the coming weeks to protect their crop and prevent further spread of this destructive plant disease.
