***** The Weather......
southern / eastern U.S. ***** Some wet weather expected Thursday...
ending most areas on Friday.... with dry weather for the weekend.
A slow-moving frontal system that now stretches from far west TX to
the mid-Atlantic coast will plod south and east today and Friday.
Most of the rain with this system will fall today and tonight....
over the mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley southwest through northern and
central TX... with some showers along the east coast / FL. The front
will hang up in south-central TX but continue pushing through the
Southeast on Friday. Some showers possible in the Southeast
(especially coastal areas) and again in northern / central TX, but
dry elsewhere as strong high pressure builds into the eastern U.S.
Unseasonably mild temperatures over much of the east / south will
give way to much cooler air on Friday and Saturday. For the
weekend.... some clounds and/or rain possible for parts of the
Southeast, particularly near the coast. High pressure centered to the
north will be directing winds onshore. Some rain also possible
northern TX. Otherwise partly cloudy to sunny and dry, with temps at
or below seasonal norms.
Southern / Eastern United States.... Thursday.... HIGH Risk locally for growing areas of southern FL. Strongly Moderate Risk for vulnerable crops near the source (if still active) in NJ and eastern PA. Strongly Moderate Risk for central NC. Moderate Risk for southern GA, especially extreme south and southeast. Low Risk otherwise. Friday.... Moderate Risk locally for southern FL. Low Risk elsewhere. Mostly unfavorable weather will dominate during the Saturday to Monday period. Any source still active in the upper mid-Atlantic region will no longer be a factor after this weekend. Nighttime lows are expected to drop into the low 30's Friday night, and well down into the 20's Saturday and Sunday nights. Mixed weather conditions may lead to some localized disease development in far southern TX Saturday and Sunday, with improving weather Monday.
