FORECAST SUMMARY: Tuesday, July 1 :
***** In the Southeast....all eyes are on the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill. Tropical Storm Bill formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, made landfall on the LA coast Monday, and will move through the Southeast today and Wednesday. Its path will take it across the northern sections.... but the circulation around both Bill and the Bermuda High offshore will funnel a large amount of tropical moisture into an already sultry airmass. Mostly cloudy skies for much of the region today with partly cloudy skies over FL. Widespread rain, showers, and thunderstorms are already occurring over most of GA, SC, and the southern Appalachian Mountains. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected over the remainder of the region. The center of Bill is expected to move from central AL today into the NC mountains by Wednesday morning, then continue to the ENE to the southern DelMarVa peninsula by Thursday morning. Widespread showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain possible for GA and the Carolinas Wednesday. More scattered afternoon showers for the FL peninsula. Moderate Risk for southern and central FL Tuesday and Wednesday. HIGH Risk for northern FL and the southern half of GA Tuesday and Wednesday. Strongly Moderate Risk for the eastern half of SC both days. Moderate Risk for northern GA Tuesday. Moderate Risk for east-central NC on Wednesday. Low Risk otherwise.
***** In Texas.... a leftover trough of low pressure will linger in the eastern part of the state while it dissipates today and Wednesday. Partly to mostly cloudy east and south today and tomorrow, while the west will be sunny to partly cloudy. Dry west both days. Scattered mainly afternoon / evening showers and thunderstorms for the east and south today, mainly east on Wednesday. The trajectories from deep south TX move WNW today, NW on Wednesday. Mixed conditions are expected for survivable transport and deposition. Moderate Risk for deep south TX and the Rio Grande plains Tuesday and Wednesday. Low Risk otherwise.
