30 May 2002 Downy Mildew Forecasts

FORECAST SUMMARY: Thursday, May 30:

*** Summer-like weather is expected in the Southeast through the weekend, with partly cloudy skies and a daily chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. *** No major weather systems will be affecting the region. Moist air over the region..... combined with daytime heating (and an occasional piece of upper-level energy in some areas) will give rise to afternoon/evening showers. The weak circulation off the northern FL coast will continue to fizzle out. A weak cold front will try to enter the region Friday and Saturday but it, too, will dissipate. Thursday... there is Moderate Risk for the FL peninsula, the eastern FL panhandle, southeast AL, southern GA, and southern SC. Friday and Saturday...... Moderate Risk for central and southern FL, southern GA, the central and northern coastal counties of SC, and southeast NC. Low Risk elsewhere. Sunday and Monday.... similar weather is expected, with the chance of afternoon or evening showers varying depending on how the weather patterns evolve. The better chances of disease development will be near the known sources.
