FORECAST SUMMARY: Tuesday, May 28:
*** Disease Update - 23 May *** Our thanks to David Langston.... who informs us of a moderately serious outbreak of downy mildew on summer squash near Camilla, Georgia. This is in Mitchell County in the southwest portion of the state. We are adding this source to the forecasts.
*** Mixed conditions for disease development over FL and parts of GA. The weak system off the Southeast coast edges closer to land on Wednesday. *** High pressure off the mid-Atlantic coast remains in control of the weather over the region. The system north of the Bahamas, which has been slow to get organized, is now doing so. Though it will remain fairly weak, it will be enough to generate some showers and thunderstorms near the south Atlantic coast as it slowly moves westward over the next several days. Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible over parts of FL and southern GA each day. Moderate Risk for central and southern FL today and Wednesday. Low Risk today near the southwest GA and Charleston sources. On Wednesday, as conditions become more favorable, there is Moderate Risk for southwest GA and the FL Big Bend region. Strongly Moderate Risk for the central and southern coastal areas of SC. Moderate Risk for southeast GA. Low Risk for other growing areas.
