21 May 2002 Downy Mildew Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Tuesday, May 21:

*** Disease Update - 16 May *** Our thanks to Jim Strandberg.... who informs us that downy mildew has been discovered in Lake County in central FL, near the town of Groveland. Half of a 10 acre field of watermelon is infected. Disease is thought to have been present about 2 weeks. We are adding this source to the forecasts.

*** Mixed conditions for the southern FL source area today and Wednesday. Unfavorable weather will be dominant over the rest of the Southeast *** Trajectories from the southern FL and central FL source areas move to the southwest each day. The threat to other areas is Low. Dry for central FL, but partly cloudy and a daily chance of showers for southern FL today and Wednesday. Trajetories from the Charleston area move west today, southwest Wednesday. Sunny skies are expected for these events, with no rain in sight. Moderate Risk Tuesday and Wednesday for southern FL. Low Risk elsewhere.
