*** Epidemic Update - 19 March: Gene McAvoy in Florida sends the following report..... "Scouts in Homestead are reporting heavy infestations of powdery and downy mildew on cucurbits. Downy mildew is widely present in older squash plantings around Immokalee and has been found on watermelon at low levels in the Devil's Garden area."
*** The southern FL source region is a Low Threat to other growing regions Tuesday and Wednesday *** A cold front will move through the Southeast U.S. today and tonight. It will complete its passage through FL on Wednesday. The grand majority of the rainfall with the front will be well to the north of the source region. Trajectories from southern FL do not approach other growing regions on either day. With a 40% chance of showers today, and some fog expected overnight, cucurbit crops could experience some localized disease development. Moderate Risk for southern FL cucurbit crops Tuesday and Wednesday.
