*** Disease Update - 23 July *** Downy mildew has been confirmed in 3 other counties in south-central to southwest Georgia: Cook, Decatur, and Tift. Serious infections are occurring on watermelon in these counties. The trajectory starting point of Camilla, GA is centrally located among the known outbreaks in this area. We will continue to use that location to track new disease development.
*** Daily rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms for most of the Southeast during the next several days. *** Shower activity will be decreasing to more normal levels for most areas by Saturday. The stationary front in NC will dissipate during the next two days. Another front will approach the region from the north on Sunday but won't make it past southern VA. Transport events from the known sources will have short to medium-range impact. In FL.... mixed conditions will prevail for transport events Thursday through Saturday. Moderate Risk for central FL each day from Thursday through Saturday. Moderate Risk to northeast FL on Thursday only. In southern GA..... Thursday's trajectory moves northeast. HIGH RISK for southern GA, Moderate Risk for eastern GA and southern SC. Friday's and Saturday's trajectories move east. Favorable weather expected on Friday, mixed conditions on Saturday. Strongly Moderate to HIGH RISK for southern GA and southern SC on Friday. Moderate Risk for these same areas on Saturday. Low Risk Thursday through Saturday for all other growing regions.
