FORECAST SUMMARY: Thursday, April 25:

*** Disease Update - 23 April *** Downy Mildew has been reported in Charleston, SC *** Downy mildew was discovered on research plots of early cantaloupe on Friday, April 19. There are at least 3 generations of lesions. Active sporulation is present.

*** A variety of weather is in store for the Southeast during the next several days *** The cold front moving through the region today will stall in northern FL on Friday.... weaken.... then move back to the north as a warm front during the weekend. Mixed conditions will prevail in much of FL, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms today and Friday. Mixed conditions exist today near the Charleston source, with unfavorable conditions expected on Friday. Dry weather is forecast near the FL source region Saturday through Monday. Near the SC source, the weather will vary, but stayed generally mixed with regard to disease development. For the FL source.... Moderate Risk for southern FL today. Moderate Risk for southern and west-central FL Friday. Low Risk for crops in this region Saturday and Sunday. For the Charleston source.... Moderate Risk for coastal counties of SC and southeast NC today. Low Risk elsewhere. Low Risk near this source region and elsewhere on Friday. Moderate Risk for southern SC Saturday and Sunday, with Low Risk likely elsewhere.
