6 September 2001 Downy Mildew Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY : Thursday, September 6:

*** Disease Update - September 6: Our thanks to Stephen Vann in Arkansas.... who informs us of an outbreak of downy mildew in Clay County, in the northeast portion of the state. This moderately serious field infection is occurring on pumpkins. This source is added to today's forecasts.

*** The active weather will occur in the deep South and the MS Valley region over the next several days. Most areas from the Appalachian Mountains and eastward will experience dry conditions through the weekend *** On Thursday.... there is Moderate Risk for southwest GA, southeast AL, northeast AR, southeast MO, extreme western sections of TN and KY, and southern IL. Low Risk elsewhere. On Friday.... the same areas are at Moderate Risk. Moderate Risk is forecast also for northwest TN, western KY, and southern IN as the chance of showers creeps eastward. Saturday and Sunday.... unfavorable weather will dominate the east coast areas. Mixed to favorable weather will be found west of the Appalachian Mountains, with the more favorable weather occurring near a cold front as it approaches from the central U.S.
