25 September 2001 Downy Mildew Forecasts

FORECAST SUMMARY : Tuesday, September 25:

*** Trajectories are unavailable for the short-term future *** Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) (the branch of NOAA from whom we get our forecast trajectories) is moving to a system in which their users must be registered. Registration may take up to two weeks but will likely be sooner. During this time, trajectories will be unavailable for our Cucurbit Downy Mildew forecasts. We will continue to post a regional weather description. As soon as trajectories can be obtained we will return to a more normal format for the forecasts.

*** A strong cold front is moving off the east coast *** Showers are likely in the Great Lakes and Northeast today. There is a chance of showers in FL as well. Showers will continue in the Great Lakes on Wednesday as an upper-level disturbance lingers in the region. High pressure is moving in behind the front, leaving all other areas in the eastern U.S. much cooler and dry. Highs will range in the 60's and 70's with some 50's near the Lakes. Lows in the 30's and 40's tonight most areas, mostly 40's north and 50's south on Wednesday night.

*** HIGH RISK on Tuesday for southern New England *** Unfavorable weather is expected near the other known source regions Tuesday and Wednesday. With overnight temperatures behind the front expected to drop into the 40's for several days..... sporulation from any disease sources should be quite limited.
