22 March 2001 Downy Mildew Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Thursday, March 22:

*** Disease Update 15 March: Downy Mildew near Immokalee, FL *** Gene McAvoy reports that Downy Mildew is active at low to moderate levels within a 10 mile radius of Immokalee, FL. Disease exists at about 5 or 6 locations in this area, mainly on summer squash, though some downy mildew has been seen on watermelon at very low levels.

*** Sunny, dry, and unfavorable weather will prevail near the source this weekend. *** Sporulation will be somewhat diminished by cool overnight temperatures in the 50's, accompanied some nights by lower humidity. Trajectories from Thursday through Saturday do not threaten other growing areas, and it appears that Sunday's and Monday's will behave likewise. Survivable transport is unlikely each day. Low Risk to growers through Monday.
