15 March 2001 Downy Mildew Forecasts

 

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Thursday, March 15:

*** Welcome to the 2001 Forecasts ***

*** Disease Update 15 March: Downy Mildew near Immokalee, FL *** Gene McAvoy reports that Downy Mildew is active at low to moderate levels within a 10 mile radius of Immokalee, FL. Disease exists at about 5 or 6 locations in this area, mainly on summer squash, though some downy mildew has been seen on watermelon at very low levels.

*** The weather near the source will be somewhat favorable for disease development during the next few days. *** No long-range transport is expected. However, a chance of showers is in the forecast in southern FL through at least Saturday. Moderate Risk of disease development for the southern half of Florida. Low Risk for the northern half of FL and beyond. The extended outlook for Sunday and Monday is uncertain, but long-range transport is not expected at this time. Forecasts will be updated this weekend should the need arise.
