28 June 2001 Downy Mildew Forecasts

FORECAST SUMMARY: Thursday, June 28:

*** Disease Update - June 28: Our Thanks to Gene McAvoy in southern Florida..... who informs us that cucurbit crops in that region are finished and that nearly all fields have been disked up. This area should be producing very little inoculum. We will be deleting the southern FL region as a source of downy mildew.

*** Favorable weather is coming to the southeast TX region this weekend *** Low Risk for this area today.... but southeast TX is at Strongly Moderate Risk of disease development Friday through Sunday, with east-central TX at Moderate Risk. The favorable weather is the result of an upper-atmospheric low pressure area that is drifting into the region, which will create an environment conducive to clouds and showers.
