30 August 2001 Downy Mildew Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Thursday, August 30:

*** Active weather is expected in the eastern U. S. during the next several days *** A warm front across the region's midsection... plus a cold front that will move through the eastern U.S. Friday and Saturday.... equals a lot of unsettled, disease-favorable weather for many areas. On Thursday.... there is HIGH RISK for northeast TN, extreme southwest VA, northeast GA, northwest SC, and eastern NC. There is Strongly Moderate Risk for west-central TN, western KY, and southern IN. There is Moderate Risk in southern GA, western VA, eastern KY, and much of WV. Low Risk elsewhere. On Friday..... there is HIGH RISK for cucurbit crops in many areas, including northeast TN, extreme southwest VA, northeast GA, northwest SC, eastern NC, and eastern KY. There is Strongly Moderate Risk for west-central TN, western KY, and southern GA. The Moderate Risk areas include western VA, parts of northern and southern WV, western MA, southeast VT, and most of NH. Low Risk otherwise. Saturday and Sunday.... the cold front's progress will slow as it tries to move into the Southeast. Mostly favorable weather will continue near the source areas in GA and eastern NC. Unfavorable weather is expected in the Northeast. In the Ohio Valley region, mixed conditions are expected in the southern sections on Saturday, with unfavorable weather for the grand majority of the region on Sunday.
