5 September 2000 Downy Mildew Forecasts

 

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Tuesday, September 5:

*** Epidemic Update - 5 September: We have two new outbreaks to report from Georgia. One is a moderately serious outbreak on cucumbers in Union County, in northeast GA. The other is a questionable outbreak on pumpkins in Echols County, in far southern GA. The Union County source will be combined with the Hendersonville, NC source and a joint forecast produced. Knowledge of the Echols County source will be incorporated into the forecasts coming out of Tifton, for southern GA.

 *** Favorable weather continues in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. *** There is HIGH RISK Tuesday and Wednesday for eastern NC, eastern and southern SC, all of Georgia, southern AL, and all of northern FL. Strongly Moderate Risk is in store for growers in southwest NC, northwest SC, southeast TN, and central FL. Continued Low Risk for growers in OK Tuesday and Wednesday.
