FORECAST DISCUSSION: Tuesday, October 31:
*** Disease Update 31 October: Downy Mildew has reported once again from the southwest FL region. *** Gene McAvoy informs us that downy mildew has been seen in scattered locations around Immokalee, FL. Affected cucurbits include squash, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Incidence and severity are low at the present time.
*** This will be our last forecast for the 2000 disease season *** We appreciate everyone's participation and cooperation during the year. Season summaries will be produced and posted before the new year.
*** Unfavorable weather will persist in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast through the weekend. *** Low Risk to growers Tuesday and Wednesday. Survivable transport is very unlikely, no rain is expected, and sporulation should be suppressed by cold overnight temperatures in the mid-Atlantic. Dry weather is expected to continue through the weekend, with Low Risk to growers. The next decent chance of rain may come by the middle of next week.
