17 October 2000 Downy Mildew Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Tuesday, October 17:

*** Frontal system moving through the eastern U.S. today and Wednesday *** Frontal passage will go unnoticed in the Southeast with sunny skies and dry weather continuing. Some cloudiness in the southern mid-Atlantic will mark the front's progress. Only decent chance of rain is in the northern mid-Atlantic region, where anything from drizzle to showers may fall. Strongly Moderate to HIGH RISK for DE, MD, eastern and northern VA, far eastern WV, central and eastern PA, and southern NJ on Tuesday. Strongly Moderate Risk for growers near the sources along the DelMarVa peninsula and southern NJ on Wednesday. Low Risk both days for growers in eastern NC, southern GA, and FL. Low Risk also for growers near the other reported sources in IL/WI, OK, and southwest NC / northern GA...... where the hard freeze of 7-10 days ago likely ended the disease season.
