7 May 1999 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, May 7: *** Conditions are favorable for blue mold in the Southeast on Friday, but unfavorable Saturday and Sunday *** Showers and thunderstorms are likely in many areas of the southeast U.S. today. However, the weather will be less unsettled on Saturday and Sunday than it appeared it might be at mid-week. Partly cloudy skies are expected and there is only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms for much of the region. For Friday, there is HIGH RISK for growers in southern GA and northern FL and Moderate Risk for southeast GA. Other growers are at Low Risk. On Saturday and Sunday, growers in the Southeast are at Low Risk, though localized disease development is possible in the southern GA / northern FL region.

The sources in Cuba, Mexico, and southern Texas will not threaten any major production areas this weekend. There may be some localized disease development in Cuba. TK
