FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, June 11: *** Mixed bag of weather conditions this weekend. *** In the Carolinas, conditions will be unfavorable for disease development most of the weekend. Two notable exceptions.....first, the Ellerbe source is a Mild Threat today, posing a Weakly Moderate Risk for growers in the mountains of NC and TN. Second, a Low pressure area off the mid-Atlantic coast will move westward during the weekend. Growers near the coastal source in Jones County, NC have the potential for some localized disease development on Sunday. In the deep South....growers in southern GA and northern FL will be at Moderate Risk of disease development each day. The threat of showers and thunderstorms will persist but the coverage won't be as heavy as it was on Friday. In the Ohio Valley..... hot, humid air ahead of an approaching cold front will give rise to the chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms also. Growers in eastern and northern KY, southwest Ohio, and southern Indiana will be at Moderate Risk each day this weekend. Conditions in this region will probably be less favorable on Saturday and more favorable on Sunday. TK
