FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, May 7, 1997 - No High Risk threats today. The worst situation involves the Gainesville, FL source. Spores released today should be killed from exposure to sunshine, but Thursday's release may pose a problem. Though much depends on how long spores will travel under sunny skies, conditions appear favorable for survivable transport and later deposition. There is a Moderate risk to growers in S Georgia, S & E SC, and eastern NC from Thursday's spore release.
Elsewhere, no long-range threats are expected from any of the other source regions. There may be some localized development near Papantla, and the S Texas region may have some local development, especially in the hill country around Uvalde. Conditions near Pinar del Rio, Cuba and Tepic, Mexico are unfavorable for blue mold the next two days. TK
SERIOUS SOURCE THREATS: None
HIGH RISK GROWING AREAS: None

We do not have the capability to ascertain blue mold development by other means, such as transplanting of infected seedlings, nor will we attempt to do so.
