FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, May 16, 1997 - There are no serious threats from any of the sources this weekend. Growers in N Florida and extreme S GA face a moderate risk of disease development for today's release from Gainesville. Conditions will be somewhat favorable for blue mold in the N Florida area Saturday and Sunday, so growers there will face a slight to weakly moderate risk on those days. Growers near the Reno, GA source are at a slight risk from today's release, but otherwise, the weather will be unfavorable for any disease development from SW GA. No long-range threat is anticipated from either of these sources this weekend.
The S Texas sources also pose no long-range threat. However, conditions in the region will support some localized disease development, especially near the coast. TK
SERIOUS SOURCE THREATS: None
HIGH RISK GROWING AREAS: None
***** NOTE: These forecasts/outlooks only apply to disease development from airborne transport of spores!!! We do not have the capability to ascertain blue mold development by other means, such as transplanting of infected seedlings, nor will we attempt to do so. Please consult the Extension Service personnel in your area if you have concerns about these matters! *****
