FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, May 14, 1997 - The Gainesville, FL and Reno, GA sources were lesser threats for Tuesday's release than anticipated. There was more sunshine and few showers, so the risk to S GA and FL was slight rather than moderate. Today, the Gainesville source poses little threat, and there is only a mild threat from the GA source. Eastern NC growers face a very slight risk from today's release. Thursday's release from S GA puts growers in N Florida and S Georgia at a slight to perhaps moderate risk of disease development.
Only localized threats are expected from the S Texas sources today and Thursday. Conditions are marginally to somewhat favorable for disease development near the source areas. This is a better situation than what was anticipated earlier in the week. At this point, it appears that the weather this weekend will be generally unfavorable for blue mold in both S Texas and the Southeast. TK
SERIOUS SOURCE THREATS: None
