24 March 1997 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Monday, March 24, 1997 - Conditions near all the source regions are generally unfavorable for spore survival during transport, so no long-range threat from any of the disease areas is expected. The weather is somewhat favorable for localized development in Cuba and southern Texas today and Tuesday. Localized development is also possible near the Mexican source regions, though the conditions at those locations are only marginally favorable. The weather in the Southern Plains will be watched closely as a developing frontal system moves through the area. It's possible that spores released tomorrow may travel ahead of the system to sites farther east. Additional forecasts will be produced on Tuesday if the situation warrants it. TK

THREATENING SOURCES: None
