21 March 1997 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, March 21, 1997 - *** Threat from Cuba diminished *** Though conditions in Florida are still favorable for blue mold, there is a much lesser chance of a spore influx from Cuba from today's release. On Saturday, Florida weather will be less favorable for disease development as sunny conditions begin to dominate. This should continue through the rest of the weekend.

Conditions in S Texas are improving also. Partly cloudy and warm is the forecast through Saturday, with some increasing cloudiness on Sunday. There is little chance of local or long-range disease development this weekend.

The Mexican sources are generally non-threatening, with no long-range transport expected. However, some localized disease development is possible in the Gulf coast growing areas. Skies will be variably to mostly cloudy during the weekend, but not much rain is forecast. TK

THREATENING SOURCES: None
