27 June 1997 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, June 27, 1997 - *** Other than eastern NC for Friday's release, no High Risk areas this weekend. *** Sources in the Carolinas are SERIOUS Threats, especially for today's activity. There is HIGH RISK for growers in E NC and Strongly Moderate Risk for NE SC. On Saturday, there is Strongly Moderate Risk for northern SC and southern NC, but the risk drops to Low for eastern NC growers. By Sunday, afternoon showers will be a possibility again, so the risk jumps back to Moderate for growers near the sources in the coastal plains of the Carolinas. Elsewhere in the east, growers in south-central VA and north-central NC face a Moderate Risk situation today, but the threats and risk levels from the Jeffress, VA and Lancaster, PA sources will be low on Saturday and Sunday.

Growers in the Ohio Valley and southern Appalachian mountains will be at Moderate Risk all weekend. Skies will be a mixture of sunshine and clouds and a chance of mainly late-day showers or t'storms will persist through Sunday. Areas at Moderate Risk include western NC, SW VA, central and eastern TN, central and eastern KY, and southern Indiana. TK
