28 July 1997 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Monday, July 28, 1997 - *** No Serious Threats Monday or Tuesday *** The various source regions are Mild or Moderate Threats early this week. A cold front is pushing into the eastern United States from Canada, causing showers and t'storms in the sultry air mass ahead of it. The combination of partly cloudy skies and a chance of afternoon showers means that growers near the source regions will face a Moderate Risk of disease development until the front passes their area. No long-range threats are anticipated.

The front should be in the southern Appalachian Mountains on Tuesday. Growers in that region are at Moderate Risk both days, from southern WV and southeastern KY through northern GA. A few other areas are at Moderate Risk today. This includes the eastern half of KY and the western half of NC. The risk should be limited to the mountain areas on Tuesday. TK

SERIOUS SOURCE THREATS: NONE

HIGH RISK GROWING AREAS: NONE
