2 April 1997 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, April 2, 1997 - Weather conditions in the southern Texas and NE Mexico region remain favorable for blue mold development the next few days. Cloudy skies and rain are likely, and there is a chance that spores from the Tepic and Papantla sources in Mexico may reach this area as well. Some localized disease development is expected near Tepic on Thursday. The Cuban and other Mexican sources are minimal threats today and Thursday. Conditions are mostly unfavorable for both long-range and short-range development. There is no threat to the U.S. productions areas during this forecast period. TK

SERIOUS THREATS: Southern Texas sources, locally.

HIGH RISK AREAS: S Texas/NE Mexico
