FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, June 26, 1996

*** New source area in Edgecombe County, NC (Battleboro) *** Blue mold has been reported in northeast North Carolina near Battleboro, near the Edgecombe/Nash county line. Since this area is somewhat removed from the other source region in SE NC, this site is being added to the source list. Recent activity here, as elsewhere in NC, is described as light.

*** Strong Canadian high pressure *** has moved into the eastern United States, bringing drier and somewhat cooler conditions into the Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, and Southeast. These conditions will persist for at least the next several days and should help stifle any disease development in these regions. Source area risks are low today and Thursday for the Kentucky and NC sources. The GA and N FL source sites are moderate risk today due to a higher likelihood of significant cloud cover and showers, with the GA sources dropping to low risk on Thursday. TK

HIGH-RISK SOURCES: None
