FORECAST DISCUSSION: Monday, June 24, 1996
*** The weekend development situation *** was pretty tame. All the source regions experienced plenty of sunshine during the early transport hours, so the chance of survivable spore transport was low everywhere but north Florida. In that area, there was a moderate risk of localized disease development Saturday and perhaps Sunday, due to a somewhat greater chance of spore survival (a little more cloudiness) and effective deposition (more rain showers and t'storms).
*** Early this week *** conditions are generally unfavorable for disease development, and all sources are low risk today and tomorrow. The high temperatures and intense midday sunshine near the source areas should prove quite damaging to sporulating lesions and lethal to any airborne spores. However, a few straggling survivors from the KY sources may be deposited in N or E KY, S Ohio, or W WV today, and there's a small chance of localized development near the N FL source area. Compared to what's been happening in the past month or so, though, these threats are tiny. TK
HIGH-RISK SOURCES: None
