FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, 24 April 96 - There MAY have been a little spread associated with the isolated rainfall in the S TX/N Mexico area Monday night/Tuesday morning. The scenario for possible transport from Cuba yesterday went as initially expected: no trajectories were towards any growing areas, there was too much sunshine for spore survival after release, and washout along the front over the ocean probably occurred. Conditions for today and tomorrow are again good for keeping the disease at bay, lots of sunshine and drier air to kill the spores and maybe suppress sporulation. Trajectories also generally lead away from places where tobacco grows. Friday's (the 26th) forecasts may get interesting regarding the Cuban sources, but that's still a vague and uncertain situation at this point. TK
