Forecast Summary: Tuesday, March 9

Regional Weather (Southeast U.S. / eastern Gulf of Mexico): Vigorous frontal system moving into and through the region during mid-week. High pressure is giving way to an evolving system that will impact the South over the next several days. Mostly light showers are occurring in FL and GA today with stronger activity still to the west. Increased cloudiness, showers, and storms will advance west to east during this forecast period. High temperatures in the 60's and 70's today most areas. 70's and 80's expected on Wednesday for eastern / southern sections, while some areas of the Southeast will be in the 50's and 60's under clouds and rain. Lows in the 40's and 50's each day, with a decided warming trend for Wednesday night.

OUTLOOK

Tuesday and Wednesday:

Transport events move to the NNW each day. Conditions for survivable transport are mostly unfavorable today, perhaps mixed on Wednesday. Neither of the two events should pose much threat to the U.S. growing areas. Thursday's transport event is now the one that bears watching more closely. Low Risk to U.S. tobacco plants Tuesday and Wednesday. As was anticipated last week, this week's system has developed and moved slower than indicated by the numerical weather prediction models late last week. Sunday's and Monday's transport events were Low Threats to U.S. interests.
