* Welcome to the TBM forecasts for 2010! The 2010 season begins with the monitoring of transport events out of western Cuba.

Forecast Summary: Thursday, March 4

Regional Weather (Southeast U.S. / eastern Gulf of Mexico): Dry weather. Initially cold temperatures moderating with time. High pressure centered over the north-central U.S. will govern the weather over the Southeast for the foreseeable future. Expect clear to partly cloudy skies and no rain. Temperatures remain cool to cold the next two days before moderation over the weekend. Normal or even above-normal temperatures will occur Sunday and Monday for many areas. Highs in the 40s-60s Thursday, 50s and 60s Friday, 50s to 70's Saturday through Monday. Lows mostly in the 20s tonight, 20s and 30s Friday night, 20s to 40s Saturday night, 30s and 40s Sunday and Monday nights. The next system to impact the region will arrive in the Tuesday / Wednesday time frame.

OUTLOOK

Thursday through Monday:

Transport events move to the southwest Thursday through Saturday. Sunday's event tracks to the west. Monday's event tracks to the northwest and then northeast into the eastern Gulf. Sunday's and Monday's events will be monitored closely, as changes in the speed of the next weather system could alter the potential impact of these events. Low Risk to U.S. tobacco plants Thursday through Monday.
