Blue Mold Forecast


*** The 2009 forecast season will begin with the monitoring of transport events out of western Cuba. While we do not have any information regarding the presence or absence of blue mold in Cuba, in 9 of the last 13 years the first outbreaks in the United States have been the result of airborne transport of blue mold spores from Cuba to the growing regions of northern FL or southern GA. ***

Forecast Summary: Tuesday, March 24

Regional Weather (Southeast U.S. / eastern Gulf of Mexico): Dry eastern Gulf, showers moving into the mainland Southeast on Wednesday. High pressure elongated over the Atlantic coast and into the eastern Gulf will be slowly moving offshore ... as a frontal system move into the Southeast late today and Wednesday. Showers will spread over the interior Southeast midweek while the eastern Gulf region remains dry. Highs mostly in the 70's, lows mostly in the 50's.

OUTLOOK

Tuesday and Wednesday: Transport events are moving to the northwest, toward the central Gulf region, under unfavorable conditions for survivable transport. Low Risk to U. S. tobacco plants Tuesday and Wednesday.
