FORECAST SUMMARY: Wednesday, April 21:
Wednesday and Thursday: One interesting transport event on Wednesday. The trajectory from southern Texas moves northeast, reaching the Ohio Valley on Thursday. Conditions along the way would be mixed for survivable transport, with a lot of washout expected before event arrival in the Ohio Valley, and a little washout possible over western sections of the Ohio Valley. We still have little knowledge of the state of wild tobacco growth or blue mold presence in southern TX. Growers in the western half of the Ohio Valley are advised to keep a closer watch on their plants during the next week or two, just in case. All the other known or potential sources are Low Threats the next two days. Trajectories do not approach other growing regions. High pressure continues to govern the weather over the southeast U.S. and eastern Gulf of Mexico.

***** NOTE: These forecasts/outlooks only apply to disease development from airborne transport of spores!!! We do not have the capability to ascertain blue mold development by other means, such as transplanting of infected seedlings, nor will we attempt to do so. Please consult the Extension Service personnel in your area if you have concerns about these matters! *****
