18 August 2003 Blue Mold Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, August 18:

***** Disease Update - 18 August ***** Blue mold has been discovered in the flue-cured areas of Virginia. Blue mold lesions were discovered in several fields late last week in Halifax and Patrick counties along southside Virginia. Most fields in these counties are beyond the topping stage and into harvest (the initial discovery in Halifax County occurred while harvest was occurring). 

***** The Weather..... Stationary front now along the southern borders of NC and TN will sink into the Southeast on Tuesday. Meanwhile, high pressure is filling in across the north and will build farther south on Tuesday. Sunny to partly cloudy skies most areas both days. Other than scattered showers on Monday for New England and part of the mid-Atlantic, dry weather is expected north of the front Monday and Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms both days for the Southeast.

***** The Forecasts...... On Monday.... Moderate Risk for southern GA, southern and eastern SC, and southern New England. On Tuesday.... Moderate Risk for southern GA and southern SC. Elsewhere, with dry weather expected over the next two days, Low Risk for growing areas in the Ohio Valley, southern Appalachian Mountains, and mid-Atlantic states.
