FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, August 11:
***** Disease Update - 11 August ***** Blue mold has been discovered in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Disease is scattered through the county and the infections appear to be of recent origin. Blue mold continues to spread in the Ohio Valley (new counties in KY and southeast IN) and the southern Appalachian Mountains (Yadkin County, NC).
***** Unsettled weather will continue in the eastern U.S. and southern Canada for the next several days ***** A dissipating front lingers along the eastern seaboard. Another cold front will move through the Great Lakes and into the Northeast and Ohio Valley tonight and Tuesday. Partly to mostly cloudy skies and scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will characterize the weather today and Tuesday. Trajectories will move slowly north along the eastern seaboard, and to the south or southwest in the Ohio Valley. Trajectories from the southern Appalachian Mountains will tend to move slowly near the source region. Tuesday's trajectories from all the source areas closely resemble those for Monday.
***** In the Northeast and upper mid-Atlantic...... favorable weather for disease development is expected Monday and Tuesday. HIGH Risk for the growing areas of southern New England both days. HIGH Risk near the source in southeast PA today, Moderate Risk for this area on Tuesday.
***** Elsewhere.... mixed conditions for disease
development will be dominant. Moderate Risk
for growing areas in the Ohio Valley, southern Appalachian Mountains,
southern mid-Atlantic, and Southeast. The greatest chance
of deposition will occur near the source regions.
