25 April 2003 Blue Mold Forecasts

Forecast Notes - 24 March:

Due to a variety of issues, the transition to our new location has been rather difficult. While we get back on our feet, the forecasts for the next several weeks will be abbreviated as follows: Detailed forecasts will be provided for the northern FL / southern GA source area. We will provide trajectories and summary information for the other sites. Should transport events from the sites in the Carribean, Mexico, or southern Texas prove threatening, we will include detailed forecasts for those events as well. We thank you for your patience while we adjust to our new surroundings!

FORECAST SUMMARY:
Friday, April 25:

***** A strong storm system will move through the Southeast Friday and Saturday ***** The disease sources in the northern FL and southern GA region are weak, but other factors are favorable for long-range transport and deposition. Strongly Moderate Risk on Friday for northern FL, southern GA, and southern SC. Low Risk otherwise. Saturday's weather will be favorable for part of the day near the source. However, the trajectory moves quickly off the coast, which lessens the threat to other regions. Moderate Risk to tobacco crops near the source on Saturday. Unfavorable weather will arrive in the Southeast on Sunday. Low Risk to tobacco crops in the Southeast on Sunday.

***** Elsewhere, the other known sources are Low Threats Friday through Sunday.
